What is Coaching?
Coaching is a relationship between client and coach in which the client and the coach collaborate for the purpose of meeting the client’s needs. The agenda comes from the client. The client is guided and supported in making desirable changes in one or more parts of his or her life, leading to a life that is more fulfilled and balanced.
On a practical level, coaching is about setting and achieving goals. On a spiritual level, coaching leads to a more purposeful and successful life. The ultimate goal is supporting the client to reach his or her full potential.
Coaching is for those who are seeking growth. It aims to bridge the gap between where you are and where you want to be in your personal or professional life. Coaching focuses on the present and the future to help you to clarify your goals, and realize your vision.
Coaching is not the same as counseling or psychotherapy. It is not for people who are currently in crisis or in need of emotional healing or recovery.
What is Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT)?
EFT is an emotional form of acupuncture that relies on tapping instead of needles. During a session, we tune into a specific issue or goal while tapping on various meridian points on the body. EFT is based upon the premise that “The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body’s energy system.” EFT aims to correct this imbalance so that you are no longer “tied” to your area of concern.
EFT is a very non-invasive approach that helps to neutralize negative emotions by gently tapping on various stress relief points located on the face, hands, and upper body. This gentle tapping restores the body's natural flow of positive energy. Once learned, you can easily apply EFT to any area of your life that you want to improve. EFT is not perfect, of course, but it usually works well and the results are sometimes spectacular. It often works when nothing else will.
EFT is NOT a substitute for conventional medicine. It is, however, compatible with Western medicine and all other forms of therapy and healing.
Who developed these techniques?
EFT was founded by Gary Craig, a Stanford engineering graduate and an ordained minister, who has been doing energy healing work since 1991.
Since the age of 13 when Gary had an intense interest in personal improvement via psychology, he recognized that the quality of his thoughts was mirrored in the quality of his life. Since then he has been self-taught in this field, seeking only those procedures that, in his opinion, produced results. EFT is his latest finding, the core of which he learned from Dr. Roger Callahan. Gary is also a Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) Master Practitioner.
